NETWORK STORIES

Each network member and community member engaged by the network brings with them experiences, insights and perspectives that we can all learn and grow from. The following stories highlight the successes and challenges faced by Access Network.

A big thank you goes out to all of those who have shared their frontline stories with us. If you are a part of the Access Network and would like to share a story please let us know!

Access Network Member Profile: Angela

Angela is a caseworker at Disability Services (DS) with Community and Social Services – Edmonton Region. In the past, Angela worked with Coordinated Access at Homeward Trust Edmonton, and so was familiar with some of the issues people face prior to starting with DS.

A Short Story: Jonas

Numbers can tell us only so much. Here is a story about Jonas. Jonas is a young man who came onto the Access Network radar in late April 2020. He was brought forward because of his extreme vulnerability.

Access Network Member Profile: Rachelle

Rachelle values being part of the Access Network as she believes that a key underlying principle of our work is acknowledging that people exist in communities. The Access Network provides the groundwork for real community work.

Mandy at the Mission

Mandy is a young woman who has been staying at the Hope Mission since before the Network was first introduced to her in June 2020. Her name was brought forward by the Hope Mission nursing staff. They were very concerned about how vulnerable Mandy was.
